Together with Georg Gingler, Burundi Project Manager at Caritas Austria, the AMEBE team recently paid a visit to beneficiaries of the DSAAC-BU project in Gatumba. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology in Austria. The visit was made to meet with beneficiaries of the project and to explain how the project will be executed.
In his opening remarks,the Gatumba Zone chief welcomed the guests and wished them all the best during their stay in the area.
After, Georg Gingler let the participants know the reason behind this project .Worldwide, Climate change is a reality. He mentioned that even in Burundi, signs of climate change are obvious. He gave the example of flooding which happened in Gatumba .The DSAAC-BU project contains strategies aiming to mitigate challenges related to climate change in Burundi. He added that, the project is implemented in Burundi by the consortium of Organisation Diocésaine  pour le Développement de Bujumbura (ODDBU/Caritas   Bujumbura) ,Oeuvre Apostolique Vie Nouvelle pour la Réconciliation ( OAVNR) and AMEBE under the coordination of Caritas Austria.AMEBE is working on green entrepreneurship.Thus,the beneficiaries of the DSACC-BU project were made aware of the execution of the project and how activities will progress.
Jean Berchmans Siboniyo, the National Coordinator of AMEBE, let participants know that AMEBE is still at the beginning of the project, and encouraged those who are committed to follow project terms through their full participation. Georg Gingler thanked all the participants and said that he hopes for the success of the project .He assured his audience that he has confidence in AMEBE to carry out well this project since AMEBE has a good reputation in other projects implemented in Burundi with the support of Caritas Austria.
