On Friday, December 6, 2024, AMEBE concluded a three-day technical training on burning energy-efficient stoves molded in early October 2024. The training, conducted under the framework of the DSACC-BU project, aimed to equip members of COOPAMI cooperative with practical skills to set up oven and fire the stoves for optimal durability and efficiency.
Rice husks, an innovative and environmentally friendly fuel source, were used during the burning process. This approach aligns with the project’s goals of environmental protection by reducing reliance on firewood and repurposing what is often considered waste into valuable resources. This effort not only minimized deforestation but also contributed to cleaner urban spaces.
During the training, cooperative members demonstrated exceptional collaboration and a strong willingness to learn. Their dedication paid off as they successfully burned a total of around sixty stoves, with an impressive fifty-nine emerging in excellent condition.
On the final day of training, the cooperative celebrated their progress by selling 10 stoves within the local community, marking the beginning of their journey toward sustainable income generation.
The AMEBE team and Trainers praised the cooperatives’ commitment and encouraged them to scale up production to further enhance their livelihoods. By increasing output, the cooperatives not only stand to improve their financial stability but also play a vital role in promoting environmental sustainability within their community.
This activity is part of the broader DSACC-BU project, funded by Austria’s Federal Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation, and Technology, and coordinated by Caritas Austria. The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude and reaffirmed their commitment to applying the skills and knowledge gained during the training.
