From October 8 to 11, the Association of Mentors for Business and Entrepreneurship (AMEBE) visited Ngozi Province (Ngozi Commune), as well as Makebuko and Itaba (Gitega Province), to engage with beneficiaries of the FIGEBAVER project. This initiative, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Bujumbura, is designed to combat gender-based violence through economic resilience. The visit’s primary objectives were to provide training on community leadership, distribute agricultural inputs funded by AMEBE members, and discuss the next steps in the project’s implementation.
During the visit, the National Coordinator of AMEBE delivered a speech reminding the beneficiaries that the rainy season had begun. He urged them to plant the agricultural inputs promptly to ensure a successful harvest and emphasized that the inputs were a donation from AMEBE members, intended to support their efforts in addressing gender-based violence.
The training sessions focused on the importance of community leadership, encouraging beneficiaries to take an active role in transforming their communities. Alongside this, AMEBE distributed agricultural inputs collected from member contributions to support the beneficiaries’ farming activities and boost productivity.
The visit also included discussions about the project’s upcoming activities, aiming to inspire beneficiaries and enhance the viability of their initiatives. These conversations also identified potential challenges in project implementation, and AMEBE worked with the beneficiaries to propose practical solutions to overcome these obstacles.
At the end of the visit, the beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to AMEBE for its continued support, encouragement in developing their skills, and contributions to the success of their projects. They now feel more empowered to actively participate in the development of their communities.
